According to March 2 news from CoinWorld, high-ranking officials from the United States and Israel revealed that their initial plan to attack Iran was supposed to happen a week earlier than it actually did. After the second round of US-Iran talks ended on February 17 without significant progress, US and Israeli military planners were preparing to strike on February 21. However, the operation was never authorized. US and Israeli officials cited bad weather in the region as a key reason. An Israeli official said the delay was mainly initiated by the US, related to better coordination with the Israel Defense Forces. The first strike targeted Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei and his son, as well as several meetings of senior Iranian officials, including weekly routine meetings. An intelligence official stated that the US and Israel wanted to send a signal that an attack was not imminent, so Khamenei and others would feel secure. The Geneva talks aimed to convince Iran that diplomacy remains Trump’s preferred approach. Another Israeli official said the new strike date was set for tactical and operational reasons, and that the talks were genuine. If Trump had seen substantial progress in Geneva, he could have postponed the attack again.
