Trump Speaks on Iran Conflict: Acknowledges Casualties and Estimates Action to Last About Four Weeks

On March 2nd, according to the British Daily Mail, U.S. President Trump publicly commented for the first time on the casualties resulting from the U.S.-Iran conflict.

Trump stated that the tense and intense situation in this conflict led to the unfortunate deaths of three U.S. military personnel. Confronted with this, Trump straightforwardly said, “Unfortunately, this is a possibility.”

He further pointed out that casualties were expected and could happen again. At the same time, he also acknowledged that the deaths of these three U.S. service members were the first such incident he has encountered during his second term.

Notably, in previous actions, including the January arrest of Venezuelan leader Maduro and the June bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities, no U.S. casualties occurred. Trump also said, “We’ve done quite well.”

In addition to the casualties, Trump discussed the timeline of this conflict. He indicated that, based on Iran’s vast territory, U.S. military operations against Iran are expected to last about four weeks, though he did not rule out the possibility of the conflict ending sooner.

Furthermore, he added that, up to now, a series of outcomes from the attacks were within his expectations and did not surprise him.

Overall, while Trump described the casualties in the Iran conflict as “not surprising” and estimated a four-week duration for military actions, this nonchalant attitude cannot hide the pain caused by war.

Meanwhile, ongoing military operations will not only lead to more casualties but also escalate regional tensions. The U.S. approach of resolving disputes through force rather than peaceful negotiations undoubtedly deepens external concerns about the direction of the war.
