U.S. media: The Trump administration is preparing for face-to-face talks with Iran
People’s Finance News, April 8—According to a report by CNN on April 7, the Trump administration is preparing for a possible in-person meeting between U.S. officials and Iranian officials. The report cites remarks from U.S. officials, saying that the two sides are currently working to reach a long-term agreement to end the conflict between the United States and Iran. Given that the U.S. and Iranian sides have just announced a two-week ceasefire agreement, the likelihood of holding the meeting is becoming increasingly likely. U.S. officials also said the talks are very likely to be held in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, with Pakistani mediators present. The U.S. vice president, Vance, U.S. presidential envoy Witkoff, and Kushner, the son-in-law of U.S. President Trump, are expected to attend the talks. On the day, White House press secretary Leavitt confirmed to CNN that both the U.S. and Iran “are indeed currently discussing an in-person meeting,” but she also said, “everything is still not finalized before a formal announcement by the president or the White House.” (Xinhua)
