The Financial Services Authority (OJK) records that the transaction value of digital financial assets and crypto in Indonesia has declined over the past 5 years. However, the adoption rate of crypto users domestically continues to increase every year.

The Executive Head of Oversight of Technology Innovation in the Digital Financial Assets and Crypto Assets Sector at OJK, Adi Budiarso, explained that the value of crypto transactions had peaked in 2021 at Rp859.4 trillion. However, in 2022, the value fell sharply to Rp306.4 trillion.

The decline continued into 2023, with transaction values of only Rp149.25 trillion. Even so, in 2024, crypto transactions temporarily rose again to Rp650.61 trillion, before dropping again in 2025 to Rp482.23 trillion. This means more than Rp377 trillion was lost over that period.
