Delta Air Lines is raising its checked baggage fees, following similar moves by United Airlines and JetBlue, in response to soaring jet fuel prices attributed to the conflict in the Middle East. Most domestic and short-haul international passengers will now pay $45 for the first bag and $55 for the second, an increase of $10 each. This fee hike is part of Delta’s strategy to offset a $400 million increase in operating expenses due to higher fuel costs.
