The data from the vessel-tracking website TankerTrackers.com shows that throughout March, no LNG (liquefied natural gas) cargo ships were found to have transited the Strait of Hormuz.

The site said on Monday: “To the best of our knowledge, during March 2026, not a single LNG cargo ship transited the Strait of Hormuz leaving.”

About 20% of the world’s LNG supply typically goes through this waterway. Driven by reduced fuel availability, natural gas prices in Europe and Asia have surged.

Since the war broke out on February 28, Iran’s tight control of the strait has gripped the throat of global energy supplies.
