Bitcoin Depot suffers a hacker attack, losing approximately $3.66 million worth of BTC

Mars Finance news: according to market sources, Bitcoin ATM operator Bitcoin Depot filed documents with the U.S. SEC to disclose that the company suffered a cybersecurity attack. The hackers gained access to digital asset settlement account credentials by infiltrating its IT systems, stealing approximately 50.9 BTC from the company’s wallet, worth about $3.67M. After the incident occurred, the company has launched an incident response program, hired external cybersecurity experts to assist with the investigation, and notified law enforcement agencies. The company said that the customer platform and user data were not affected. The company has categorized this incident as a material matter, which may lead to reputational damage and additional costs related to legal, regulatory, and other matters.
