The president forwarded the email to the admissions committee. And then? Just one day later, So-Yi eagerly sent Epstein a thank-you letter, with a tone of utter gratitude.

In the letter, So-Yi wrote: “I really can’t thank you enough for helping Bechet get into Bard College. I was in the kitchen having dinner with Manzi and couldn’t express my gratitude properly!” She also explained that she wanted her daughter to go through some struggles, not knowing she’d been accepted beforehand, so that she could truly feel the pressure when she arrived.
