On April 9, according to senior NATO officials, the U.S. government is applying intense pressure to its European allies, demanding that they honor their commitments to ensure the security of the Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. has clearly stated that the relevant countries must submit specific escort plans within a few days to ensure safe passage through this globally critical strategic waterway. It is reported that this request was raised during a visit to Washington by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
