Analyst: U.S. March CPI data will reflect the impact of Iran's energy shock
ME News update, April 9 (UTC+8), , U.S. First Citizens Bank analyst said in a report that the U.S. CPI data released on Friday is expected to be the first to substantially reflect the transmission of the Iranian energy shock. Driven by a surge in energy costs, overall inflation will accelerate. The bank’s head of market and economic research noted that although core inflation will be affected more mildly, the Federal Reserve will “ignore” the energy-driven surge in inflation. This will reinforce the Fed’s long-held stance of staying put and will tightly link potential rate cuts to energy prices normalizing. (Source: ChainCatcher)
