China–Congo (Brazzaville) Early Harvest Arrangement of the Economic Partnership Agreement to Take Effect Tomorrow
On November 4, 2025, China and the Republic of the Congo (Congo-B) signed the “Arrangement for Early Harvest of the Economic Partnership Agreement on Joint Development Between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of the Congo.”
At present, both the China-Congo sides have completed their respective domestic approval procedures. The early harvest arrangement will officially enter into force on April 1, 2026. The early harvest arrangement between China and Congo mainly covers tariff concessions related to goods trade. Under the arrangement, 100% of China’s tariff-line products will achieve zero tariffs for the Congolese side’s final realization; the Congolese side’s specialty agricultural products such as poria cocos (fu ling), peanuts, and cocoa beans will be accelerated into the Chinese market. The Congolese side will also implement zero tariffs on some of China’s products; China’s machinery equipment, chemicals, and so on will better help support Congo’s industrialization process.
The two sides also reached agreement on matters such as rules of origin and implementation procedures, as well as the setting of mechanisms. (CCTV News)
