Elon Musk reposts a tweet about stainless steel Starship, with the caption: “Stainless Steel Starship.”

The post states, “Everyone thinks the future belongs to carbon fiber. But Elon Musk, starting from physical principles, chose stainless steel for the Starship. Stainless steel has higher strength at low temperatures, can better withstand the high temperatures during re-entry, and is much cheaper than high-end composite materials, even eliminating the need for paint.”

The post adds, “The material he chose allows for faster construction, easier welding, greater durability in extreme environments, and is suitable for rapid iteration and improvement.”
