Why are there disagreements between Israel and Iran over the scope of the ceasefire in Lebanon?

According to the Lebanese National News Agency on April 8, at dawn local time, a building near the Hiram Hospital in the Lebanese coastal area was bombed, resulting in four deaths.

Hiram Hospital director Salman Idibi stated in an interview that the attack on the hospital should be exposed to the international community and all parties responsible for protecting medical and humanitarian organizations.

He emphasized that at the time of the attack, there were patients and medical staff committed solely to humanitarian missions inside the hospital, but Israel’s attack “never distinguishes between medical facilities and civilian infrastructure.”

He stressed, “Although a ceasefire has been announced, Israel continues to commit crimes and violations daily, completely ignoring all international laws and humanitarian conventions that prohibit attacking hospitals and medical personnel.”

He reiterated, “Attacking medical personnel is an attack on the remaining human values in war,” and called on the international community to “take responsibility and stop Israel’s reckless actions against civilians and medical institutions.”

Lebanese media reported that additionally, “Islamic Health Bureau” rescue personnel were also attacked at a station in Shakra, Lebanon, causing multiple injuries.

According to reports, early in the morning, a drone attacked a car parked on the seaside boulevard in Sidon, causing the vehicle to catch fire and resulting in casualties. Two cafes near the car were also damaged, with many customers inside at the time.

The Israel Times reported on April 8 that the office of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu issued a statement welcoming the ceasefire between the US and Iran, while stating that the ceasefire does not cover Lebanon.

This conflicts with Pakistan’s previous statement. Iran’s Islamic Republic Broadcasting reported that among the ten ceasefire terms submitted to the United States through Pakistan, it explicitly proposed to “stop the war on all fronts, including Lebanon.”
