According to the Shanghai First Intermediate People’s Court, on the 25th, the court publicly sentenced the case of Xu Sunqing, former Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Chairman of Shanghai Oriental Hub Investment and Development Group Co., Ltd., for accepting bribes.
Xu Sunqing was sentenced to nine years and six months in prison for bribery and fined one million RMB;
Illegal gains and interest were lawfully confiscated and turned over to the state treasury.

The trial found that from 2007 to 2025, the defendant Xu Sunqing, using his positions as Vice Mayor of Jing’an District, Shanghai, Vice President, President, and Chairman of Shanghai Shenjiang Riverside Development and Construction Investment (Group) Co., Ltd., Vice President of Shanghai Real Estate (Group) Co., Ltd., and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Chairman of Shanghai Oriental Hub Investment and Development Group Co., Ltd., provided assistance and sought benefits for relevant units and individuals in matters such as project contracting, leasing commercial properties, and purchasing real estate, accepting bribes totaling more than 10.14 million RMB.

The Shanghai First Intermediate Court believes that Xu Sunqing, as a state employee, exploited his official position to seek benefits for others, illegally accepting bribes in a particularly large amount, which constitutes the crime of bribery.
Considering that Xu Sunqing truthfully confessed to the bribery after being apprehended, voluntarily disclosed most of the bribe-related facts not yet known to the supervisory authorities, and showed remorse;
He also reported and proved the crimes of others, which is considered a meritorious act;
He admitted guilt and showed remorse, actively returned stolen property, and the full amount of bribes was confiscated, among other circumstances that legally and discretionarily warrant a lighter or reduced sentence.
The court therefore rendered the above judgment.
