U.S. claims it is ready for a Easter ceasefire; Russia responds: no clear proposal seen

On March 31st local time, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Peskov responded to Ukrainian President Zelensky’s earlier call for a “Easter ceasefire” during a routine briefing, stating that he did not see a clear proposal in his statement. Peskov said that Ukraine now needs a ceasefire because the situation on the front lines is unfavorable to them; if peace is not achieved in a timely manner, they will have to pay a higher price later. Peskov reiterated that Zelensky should take responsibility and make decisions to achieve peace with Russia, rather than just a ceasefire. Peskov also stated that if EU countries indeed provided airspace for Ukrainian drone attacks on northwest Russia, Russia would “draw appropriate conclusions and take corresponding measures.” Additionally, he revealed that a call between Russia and Cuba’s leaders has not yet been scheduled, but could be organized quickly if necessary. The Russia-Cuba working-level dialogue will continue. (CCTV News)
