In the early morning of the 19th local time, Abu Mujahid Assaf, a security official and spokesperson of the Iraqi Shia militia “Kata’ib Hezbollah,” issued a statement announcing a five-day suspension of attacks against the U.S. embassy in Iraq located in Baghdad’s “Green Zone.” The statement said the suspension of attacks against the U.S. embassy in Iraq is conditional on three requirements: the Israeli military must stop airstrikes targeting Beirut, Lebanon, and local civilians; the U.S. and Israel must pledge not to conduct airstrikes again on civilian areas in Baghdad and in civilian areas in provinces across Iraq; and U.S. Central Intelligence Agency personnel in Iraq must leave their bases and be confined to U.S. embassies and consulates. The statement noted that if the U.S. and Israel do not comply with the above conditions, “Kata’ib Hezbollah” will carry out a “direct and focused” response, and after the ceasefire deadline ends, will increase the frequency of strikes.
