On February 4th, the benchmark 10-year U.S. Treasury yield was 4.29%, and the 2-year U.S. Treasury yield—which is most sensitive to Federal Reserve policy rates—was 3.57%.

Probability of the Fed Keeping Rates Unchanged in March Is 90.1%

According to CME “FedWatch”: the probability that the Federal Reserve will cut rates by 25 basis points by March is 9.9%, and the probability of keeping rates unchanged is 90.1%. The probability that the Federal Reserve will cumulatively cut rates by 25 basis points by April is 23.2%, with a 75.1% chance of keeping rates unchanged, and a 1.6% chance of cumulatively cutting rates by 50 basis points. Federal Reserve Announces to Maintain Large Bank Capital Requirements Through 2027

On Wednesday, the Federal Reserve announced that it will not adjust the capital levels of large banks during the 2026 stress test cycle. It is currently considering multiple reforms to this annual test to enhance transparency. Bowman, Vice Chair for Supervision at the Federal Reserve, said that the stress capital buffer requirements for large banks will be adjusted starting in 2027, so that the Federal Reserve will have sufficient time to evaluate potential flaws in its test models when assessing banks’ financial conditions under simulated economic downturn scenarios. Previously, in October last year, the Federal Reserve voted to open its test models to the public for comments, and it will also publish the annual stress scenarios used to test banks.
