JAM neural network language model runs bare-metal on the 50-year-old Atari 8-bit computer
ME News message, April 5 (UTC+8). Recently, a neural network language model project named JAM was showcased. Its unique feature is that it can run directly on existing 8-bit Atari 400/800/XL/XE computers with about 50 years of history. The implementation is entirely written in 6502 assembly language; its inference process uses only integer operations, with no support for floating-point operations, no hardware multiplier, and no emulator techniques. The model is designed to run in an environment with a 1.79 MHz clock frequency and memory ranging from 4 KB to 80 KB. (Source: InFoQ)
