April 7, the A-shares saw a volatile rebound. The Shanghai Composite Index gained and then lost the 3,900-point level again. The total market trading volume was 1.6 trillion yuan, a modest shrink versus the previous day. Nearly 4,000 individual stocks closed up. In terms of sectors and themes, the glyphosate, agrochemical products, and organic silicon sectors led in gains; the banking and insurance sectors saw the largest declines.

By the close, the CSI A500 Index rose 0.2%, the CSI 300 Index was nearly at the close, the ChiNext Index rose 0.4%, and the Shanghai STAR Market 50 constituents index rose 1.4%.
