The Bhutanese government continues to demonstrate notable activity regarding its Bitcoin holdings. According to information provided by the blockchain data platform Arkham Intelligence, the country recently transferred about 250 Bitcoins to a newly created wallet. The market value of this amount is estimated at approximately $18 million. This transaction is seen as a continuation of the outflow of funds from government wallets over the year. According to data, in 2026, Bhutan withdrew Bitcoin worth approximately $233.75 million from its known addresses. The current Bitcoin reserves in the country have decreased to about 3,774 units, which at current prices amounts to around $272.5 million. Bitcoin holdings in Bhutan peaked at approximately 13,000 BTC in October 2024. Looking back, it is worth noting that the country's crypto assets have decreased by more than 70%. However, it is still unclear whether the recent transfer was intended for sale. The country's cryptocurrency assets are managed by Druk Holding and Investments, a state investment division. In recent years, Druk has played an active role in Bhutan's strategy of mining and accumulating Bitcoin. Experts note that large transfers from wallets linked to the state are often interpreted as a signal to sell, but making a definitive conclusion without an official statement is difficult. On the other hand, although at the time of writing, the price of Bitcoin exceeded $72,000, this asset is still approximately 43% below its peak level reached in October 2025.
