Beijing Kingsoft Office Software Inc. (Stock Code: 688111, Stock Abbreviation: Kingsoft Office) announced on March 26th that the company and its subsidiary Beijing Digital Science and Technology Network Maintenance Technology Co., Ltd. recently received a “Civil Ruling” delivered by the Supreme People’s Court. The Supreme People’s Court ruled to reject Beijing Guanqun Information Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Guanqun Company”)'s application for retrial regarding the dispute over infringement of computer software copyright between the two parties. This ruling does not affect the legal effect of the company’s already effective second-instance winning judgment, nor will it impact the company’s current and future profits.
According to the announcement, the case originated from Guanqun Company suing Kingsoft Office and Digital Science Network Maintenance for infringing computer software copyright in Beijing Intellectual Property Court. The Beijing Intellectual Property Court issued a first-instance judgment in June 2024, dismissing all of Guanqun Company’s claims, with the case acceptance fee borne by Guanqun Company. Dissatisfied with the first-instance judgment, Guanqun Company appealed to the Beijing Higher People’s Court. The Beijing Higher People’s Court issued a second-instance judgment in November 2024, dismissing the appeal and upholding the original judgment.
In February 2025, Kingsoft Office and Digital Science Network Maintenance received a “Notice of Response” from the Supreme People’s Court. Guanqun Company applied for a retrial of the second-instance judgment to the Supreme People’s Court, which has filed a case for review. Recently, the company received the Supreme People’s Court (2025) Supreme Court Civil Application No. 166 “Civil Ruling,” which rejected Guanqun Company’s application for retrial.
The case involves an amount of 150 million yuan. Kingsoft Office stated that the company will actively safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the company and all shareholders, and will fulfill its information disclosure obligations in accordance with relevant regulations in a timely manner.
