Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Baghai stated on the 18th, regarding the resignation of Joe Kent, director of the U.S. National Counterterrorism Center, that this is the “absolute minimum” that every “conscientious” American can and should do. When reposting Kent’s resignation post on social media that day, Baghai said: “This war is not the war of the American people. Drawing a line and making clear separation from this illegal war is the absolute minimum that every conscientious American citizen or official can and should do.” Kent announced his resignation on the 17th, and in a letter to President Trump he said: “I cannot support the ongoing Iran war with a clear conscience. Iran does not pose an imminent threat to our country, and it is obvious that this war is being launched under pressure from Israel and its powerful lobbying groups in the U.S.”
