Joint Maritime Information Center: Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz is almost completely halted

Ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has almost come to a complete halt, with the volume dropping to the lowest level since the critical waterway was effectively closed over the weekend. A report released on March 6 by the Joint Maritime Information Center (JMIC) states that recent assessments of navigation signals in the strait indicate that the number of passing ships has fallen to single digits, with only two confirmed commercial transits observed in the past 24 hours. According to this multinational maritime advisory organization focused on the Middle East, these transits involve cargo ships rather than oil tankers. (Cailian Press)
