Zheng Shanjie: During the “15th Five-Year Plan” period, a batch of major energy projects with investment of 1 trillion yuan or more will be implemented.

On March 6, at the press conference on the economic theme of the Fourth Session of the 14th National People’s Congress, Zheng Shanjie, Director of the National Development and Reform Commission, said that during the “Fifteenth Five-Year Plan” period, the country will consider long-term planning from a broader perspective and implement a number of strategic projects. For example, it will advance major energy projects on a trillion-yuan-plus scale, such as hydropower in the downstream reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River, “Shage Desert” new-energy bases, and offshore wind power bases. It will also advance a series of major transportation projects, such as the Three Gorges waterway new channel, and will basically build the “eight vertical and eight horizontal” main high-speed railway corridors and the national expressway network.
