I've just realized that GameFi is becoming a real trend in the crypto community, not just a temporary hype. Combining gaming and DeFi creates a completely new way to play, where you can enjoy entertainment while having the opportunity to earn real money.
What exactly is GameFi? It refers to games built on blockchain that allow players to own assets in the form of NFTs and earn tokens through gameplay. The biggest difference compared to traditional games is transparency and true ownership for players. Blockchain ensures that the items you earn are truly yours and can be sold or traded.
Why am I interested in GameFi? First, the play-to-earn model truly opens up new earning opportunities, especially for people in countries with low living costs. Second, the gaming community is growing rapidly, creating a vibrant ecosystem.
Looking at the current market, there are several notable projects. Axie Infinity (AXS) remains the industry leader, with a current price of about $1.13 and a 3.38% increase in 24h. This pioneering game sparked a global craze, where players battle creatures called Axies to earn tokens. The Sandbox (SAND) is also very hot, trading at around $0.08 with a 5.78% increase — a metaverse platform that allows creating, owning, and earning from virtual experiences.
Decentraland (MANA) is another option, currently at $0.09 with a 5.70% rise. It’s a decentralized metaverse where you can own virtual land and build structures. Gala Games (GALA) is also worth watching, priced at $0.00 but up 9.12% — this platform focuses on player ownership rights.
There are also some interesting RPG projects. Illuvium (ILV) is an open-world RPG with AAA graphics, currently priced at $3.79, up 6.30%. Star Atlas (ATLAS) and POLIS (POLIS) promise space exploration experiences using Unreal Engine 5, although their prices are still quite low.
Additionally, there’s Alien Worlds (TLM) with resource mining, My Neighbor Alice (ALICE) for farming game lovers, and STEPN GMT — which is different because it’s move-to-earn, where you make money by walking or running.
But I have to be honest — GameFi is not a shortcut to get rich. The market is highly volatile. Before investing in any project, you need to understand the gameplay, tokenomics, and the development team. I recommend trying out the game first to see if it’s really good.
The most important thing is not to "go all in" on a single project. Diversify your investments across multiple projects, participate in community activities, and always stay updated on new trends. GameFi is developing rapidly, but the risks are also very high. Only invest what you can afford to lose without affecting your financial stability.
