UFC superstar Conor McGregor accuses opponent Khabib Nurmagomedov of scamming fans out of $4.4 million through NFT sales.
According to a report by Cryptobriefing on November 27, the deep tide TechFlow news states that UFC star Conor McGregor has publicly accused long-time rival Khabib Nurmagomedov of scamming fans by selling NFTs themed around traditional Dagestani hats.
According to reports, Nurmagomedov released a series of NFT digital collectibles inspired by the papakha (a traditional Daghestan hat), and social media messages indicate that the sale generated approximately $4.4 million in revenue. After the sales were completed, Nurmagomedov deleted the previous posts promoting the NFT.
McGregor accused Nurmagomedov of exploiting the name of his late father and Dagestani culture to swindle money from fans, calling it a “shame and stain” on his father's legacy. Nurmagomedov countered that McGregor is an “absolute liar” and insisted that these NFTs are “digital gifts” with real value, aimed at celebrating Dagestani traditions.
It is worth noting that McGregor had previously collaborated with Real World Gaming DAO to launch a meme token called REAL, but the presale did not meet its target, and refunds were ultimately processed for all bidders.
