Nigeria's Trade Lenda Reaches Semifinals of $1M Milken-Motsepe Fintech Prize

Gate News, April 14 — Nigerian fintech Trade Lenda has been selected as one of 10 semifinalists for the Milken-Motsepe Prize in Fintech, according to an announcement by the Milken Institute and Motsepe Foundation. Each semifinalist will receive $100,000 and participate in an Innovation Showcase at the Milken Institute’s Middle East and Africa Summit in Abu Dhabi on December 5-6, 2024.

Founded in May 2021 by Adewunmi Adeshina, Oluwatosin Ayodele, and Shina Arogundade, Trade Lenda provides small businesses with quick access to credit with zero upfront collateral within six hours. The Lagos-based startup has served over 1,500 businesses, completed more than $2 million in disbursements, and grew by over 500% between 2021 and 2022. In January 2021, Trade Lenda raised $520,000 in pre-seed funding.

The competition will award $2 million in total prizes, including a $1 million grand prize. Three finalists will be selected from the semifinalists after pitching to expert judges and investors. The grand prize will be awarded at the Milken Institute’s Global Conference in Los Angeles in May 2025.
