The way to benefit for a lifetime: achieve rapid progress through a long-term approach. I really like a saying: we often overestimate what we can accomplish in one day, but underestimate what we can complete in a year. Here's a common example. When we buy a book, many people think: spend two or three days focusing on finishing it, then buy the next one. But the result is often—unable to finish. Because the goal is set too high, persistence becomes too painful, and finally, we give up. Once we give up, the book is likely to be shelved, and we might not pick it up again for a year or even several years.
But what if we try a different approach? Just 10 to 20 minutes of reading each day. You’ll find that over a year, you can finish many books. This is “achieving rapid progress through a long-term approach.” Truly effective methods are not about two or three days of intense effort, but about using the right approach—consistent, steady investment of time. Studying 10 to 20 minutes daily is enough to learn to play a song or sing an English song in a month; if you can persist for three months, half a year, or even a year, the results you ultimately achieve will often far exceed your initial expectations. Do you understand?
