Gate News 訊息，4 月 16 日——國際能源署（IEA）執行長法提赫·比羅爾（Fatih Birol）警告，歐洲的航空燃油儲備可能僅能維持約六週；若中東局勢動盪持續擾亂石油供應，許多航班可能很快被迫取消。
比羅爾將根本原因歸咎於透過霍爾木茲海峽（一條關鍵的海上運輸通道）造成石油、天然氣以及其他關鍵供應的中斷。若對這條至關重要的水道施加限制，將對全球經濟產生深遠影響；中斷時間越久，對經濟成長與通膨的負面衝擊就越大。影響尤為不均衡：開發中國家——特別是亞洲、非洲與拉丁美洲的低收入國家——承受了不成比例的損害。
比羅爾指出，即便達成停火或和平協議，中東遭破壞的能源基礎設施也將難以在短時間內迅速修復。
