Federal Reserve Chair Williams Addresses the Worsh Nomination Stalemate, Says It Won’t Affect the Continuity of the Committee’s Work

Gate News, on April 7, there is uncertainty about the confirmation timeline for Kevin Warsh’s nomination as Federal Reserve chair, because major Republican senators oppose moving forward with his nomination while the incumbent chair, Powell, is still under investigation. The New York Fed president and Vice Chair of the Federal Reserve Policy Committee, Williams, said that this kind of uncertainty is not an issue for the Federal Reserve. The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) voted earlier this year that Powell would serve as chair of the policy committee, and before Warsh is confirmed to take over, Powell can continue in that role. Williams said, “We’re just focused on doing our jobs, and there are no issues like continuity for the committee.”
